Abstract

This article analyses the impact of regulation on the satellite communications market as a key element in maximizing ICT. The article reviews the theoretical framework of regulations and economic competition to identify market failures of this sector, followed by a financial analysis to determine what regulatory possibilities exist in a country such as Colombia where market demand is relatively small compared to other countries in the region and currently with limited possibilities of generating its own supply to meet demand, given its technological and financial restrictions.
