Investigación en Enfermería: Imagen y Desarrollo (ISSN 0124-2059, eISSN 2027-128X) is a scientific journal edited since 1999. It publishes original research articles describing nursing approaches to clinical and public health problems in Latin America. Its primary objective is to disseminate knowledge on life care from epistemological disciplinary and Interdisciplinary frameworks. Contributions are written by research, teaching and service professionals from all over the region, and are addressed to clinicians in the field, educators, allied health professionals and students of nursing.

Although the editor is Colombian, scientific and editorial committee members are representative from across the United States and Latin America. The reported research focuses primarily on research issues that are unique to South-Central America regions. Regular subject categories comprise Clinical, Oncological, Critical and Community and Home Care Nursing, research topics that are not sufficiently covered in the core-indexed journal literature for the Latin-American region.

The journal is published twice a year.
