his article describes how insurance services are included into free trade agree- ments. This article doesn’t refer to international trade insurance products.

The article starts with a brief description on how insurance services are traded, according to WTO rules. In second place, it describes the recommendations of the Financial leaders Working Group, in which some guidelines are suggested to countries that are entering into financial liberalization processes.

Finally, the article presents the Colombian background on insurance services liberalization to conclude describing current developments in the unilateral arena and on free trade grounds.
