Abstract

This research aims to prove that, by using the Case Method (CM), the Economy students gain the competencies defined in the new study plans for the subject Financial Statement Analysis (FSA). The company chosen to prepare the case is Abengoa. It is an international company undergoing important financial problems since 2008. This case has been applied to a simple of 114 students from three Spanish universities. The results show that the CM contributes to the development of the academic competencies and improves the formation of future economists.
